Jordan Machine has been 100% employee owned since 1997. Once you have a full year in at 1,000 hours, you start accumulating shares in the ESOP.
Hiring
A number of the machinists who built this shop have retired in the last few years, and more will. We are bringing new people up on that work next to the machinists still here who have run it the longest. That is the work we need people for.
Shares start accumulating after a full year at 1,000 hours. When you leave, the payout begins after a two-year break in service and runs 20% a year over five years. At 55 and again at 60, with ten years in the plan, you can diversify part of it.
Most of our work is one to ten pieces. A pump shaft Monday, a mill housing Tuesday, a 10,000 lb weldment Wednesday. If running the same part for a year sounds like a long year, you’ll like it here.
You get the drawing and you set the job up yourself. You’re expected to work it out.
Turning, milling, welding, keyseating, assembly, programming, inspection, all in the same building. People here have moved from one of those to another.
Seventeen CNC machines including live-tool lathes with C and Y axis, a 102″ long-bed vertical and a horizontal boring mill that takes up to 10,000 lb. Programming from 3D solid models in Inventor, SOLIDWORKS and SmartCAM.

The work
We keep applications on file year-round. Even when a posting isn’t open, we’ll talk to a good machinist, or to somebody serious about becoming one.

| Welder / Fabricator | Frames, bases, hoppers and guards; layout from prints, fit-up and welding of assemblies that get machined here afterward |
| Quality Inspector | First-article layout, in-process verification, gage control and the customer-specific inspection programs that document every run |
| Apprentice / Machine Operator | Entry into the trade, learning on the floor next to the machinists running the work. Mechanical aptitude and showing up matter more than a resume |
